New Improved Mite/Cross Ice Program for 2009/10
by posted 06/16/2009

The Mite C/Cross Ice 2 Program has been improved for the upcoming season.  Below is a description.  Registration is currently running online via the website.

Mite C/Cross Ice - in house
Mite C/Cross Ice house Program is for boys and girls born in 2000 or later who typically have previous hockey experience and are not on either the Mite A or B team. The goal of Duxbury Youth Hockey’s Cross-Ice program is to develop hockey skills (skating, stick handling, passing and shooting) in a team-oriented, fun atmosphere. Playing on smaller teams in smaller areas allows MORE individual instruction, puck touches, passing & shooting opportunities, and game action/fun. Cross Ice teams will participate in three skating sessions per week - a Saturday Skills session, a Sunday "house" cross-ice game, and a midweek Skills/Powerskating session. In addition to these sessions, Cross Ice teams will play in periodic full ice games vs other area towns, as well as a once a month 4 vs 4 game vs other area towns to be held at the mini-rink in Hingham.  Cross Ice teams will also have the opportunity to particpate in at least one full ice tournament with the entry fee paid by DYH.  The Cross Ice season will run from October to March and the cost is $900. If you have any questions, contact Dave Rakauskas, Mite Level Co-Director at 781-588-5311.

Below are the programs for this age group.

 Learn to Skate
The Learn to Skate (LTS) program is designed for young children who are beginning to skate. Families often use the program as a lead in to the first year of hockey at the Mite/Learn to Play Hockey level. LTS runs for 4 weeks beginning in early September. Sessions will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at The Bog in Kingston. The cost is $90 for a twice a week 4 week session.   Kids can transition into the Learn to Play Hockey session after the Learn to Skate Program.   If you have more than two children participating in DYH, please register the LTS player last as they will be free. If you have any questions contact Dave Rakauskas, Mite Level Co-Director.

Learn to Play Hockey (Session 1 - Oct - Dec; and Session 2 - Jan - March)
The Mite/Learn to Play Hockey level is for boys and girls age 9 or younger (born in 2000 or later) who have never played hockey. Typically these kids are ages 4 to 9. The Program season will be split into two sessions. You can sign up for one or both sessions. The first session will run October through December and the second session will run January through March. There will be 2 sessions per week - a Saturday Skills session and a Sunday cross-ice game session. The cost for Session One and Session Two is $350/ea.  If you have any questions, contact Dave Rakauskas, Mite Level Co-Director.
